What to Blog About

purple_question-marksComing up with fresh and interesting content for a daily blog is not only challenging, but can also be quite frustrating. Especially when trying to rebuild the blog’s reader base.

Since moving my Whispers in Purple blog from Google/Blogger to WordPress, my subscribers seem to have disappeared. Of course, that is mostly my own fault for neglecting the blog for so long last fall.

Now that Whispers has settled into its new home, I’ve promised myself that I would do my best to blog daily, Monday-Friday. Um, make that Tuesday-Friday. Throughout the year, almost every Monday is dedicated to the Clash of the Titles posts. (See this past Monday’s post featuring author Janet Sketchley.)

The ‘tag line’ for Whispers in Purple is “Where Writers and Readers Connect . . . and Other Topics of Interest” And that’s where I’d love your help.

What do you most like to see on a blog?

What do you NOT like?

What kind of content would keep you coming back?

What topics interest you? Here are a few I’m considering:

  • Slice of Life
  • Devotions
  • Author Interviews
  • Book Reviews
  • Scripture Study
  • Guest Bloggers
  • Humor/Comic Relief
  • ? ? ?

I would really, really love to hear from you. I’ll take any/all suggestions under consideration. If I use them, your name will be mentioned…unless you tell me otherwise.

Again, thanks for visiting.

  1. I sure know what you mean about blog content--what to write. My blog has ended up being a variety pack; just whatever the Lord drops into my mind. And I never know if I'll have comments or not. Love it when I do though. Humor appeals to me, but I enjoy whatever you write and most always read your posts. ☺

  2. Thanks, Sally. I do appreciate your comments, my friend. Yeah, my posts have been of the variety-pack type, too. But I keep reading 'expert' articles on the need to have a focus to capture readers, thus my post today. At the same time, I don't see anything wrong with the way I''ve been doing it. It's a Catch-22. I'll just have to be patient until folks start finding me again :D
