The Hard Part of Christmas, with Christina Sinisi

It's Timeless Thursday!
Please welcome author Christina Sinisi who shares her heart with us about when Christmas isn't always all joy, pretty lights, and gaily wrapped presents.

(There's a giveaway involved...scroll down for details.)

The Hard Part of Christmas…

Christmas is the happiest time of the year—except when it isn’t. For many people, there is the bittersweet tinge of difficult memories, people you miss or expectations that never seem to be met. This year, my mother-in-law passed away and that means not only grieving for a saintly woman who was in my life for 35 years but now our holidays are forever changed. We’ve always driven to Connecticut and spent time with her and my husband’s side of the family. Now, we’re going to stay in South Carolina. I’d always wanted to have my own traditions, but it turns out the loss is sharp.

If you, like me, are going through a season of change or if there is some other reason that Christmas brings you pain in addition to joy, God’s Word has comfort to offer. Psalm 4:3 (New International Version) states “Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call to him.” We all go through hard times, and life often doesn’t always live up to the Hallmark movie, but God will take you and keep you and make his face shine upon you.

About Christina's Book:
When Tiffany Marano’s high school sweetheart drove off to join the Marines and never looked back, she swore off men. Now, she’s content to teach at Summer Creek, South Carolina’s local elementary school, lead a Sunday school class, and spend weekends with her niece—until Nick Walsh suddenly reappears wearing a wedding ring and with a daughter in tow. Everything about Tiffany’s calm, quiet life is now one disordered mess.
Nick Walsh comes face to face with Tiffany after all these years, and sparks fly. But not the happy glittering kind, because each of them thinks the other responsible for their estrangement. Before they can work it out, though, Tiffany’s sister disappears. Left with custody of her niece and forced to work with new police detective Nick to find her sister, old feelings begin to resurface. As they start to unravel the truths that left them confused and apart for too long, Nick must learn to let go of his past. But can Tiffany let go of her fear and learn to trust that God isn’t the only one who won’t abandon her?

  2. HI Christina. I enjoyed your post, as it speaks to those of us who do enter the holidays with aching hearts over those who are no longer her to celebrate with us and other circumstances. Your book sounds interesting. Thank you for this giveaway offer! Wishing you and Peg a Merry and Blessed Christmas!
